Dominic handles junk removal for Gardnerville homes and rentals, and you book him by text. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470. Most houses here aren't old, with the median Gardnerville home built in 2001. So the pile is usually in a garage that has been filling up since the house was new. Bikes nobody rides, a treadmill, boxes still taped from the move-in, the couch that got replaced. A house and garage cleanout is the usual fit for a home like that, and he can clear the whole bay or just the corner you point to.
Nearly half of Gardnerville households, about 48 percent, rent their home, so a lease ending here tends to strand a bed frame in the back bedroom or a recliner nobody wanted to move. Landlords can book an eviction and rental property cleanout between tenants. The town's trash routes name neighborhoods like Sunset Park, Chichester, Kingslane, Heybourne Meadows and Martins Meadows, plus Downtown, and he works all of them and the Gardnerville Ranchos too. The town runs its own Trash Services on those routes. A garage bay or a move-out load is a trailer job.
Dominic comes from Reno for these jobs. On a garage bay in a house built around 2001, he walks you through the work before anything moves, then the treadmill and the taped boxes come out of the garage and onto the trailer. On a rental between tenants, the bed frame and the recliner come out of the back bedroom the same way. After the last piece is loaded he sweeps up the bay or the bedroom and does a final walkthrough with whoever booked the job.
A move-out between tenants often leaves furniture that still works, and that goes to Goodwill first. Scrap metal gets recycled at a scrap yard, while the true trash goes to two landfills, the one in Stead and the one in Carson City. Propane tanks and hazardous waste stay off his trailer, so set those aside before the load goes out. Household chemicals can go to the county's hazardous waste drop-off, booked by appointment at the transfer station instead.
How Trash Services works
- Greenwaste (lawn clippings, weeds, leaves and small branches) is picked up on Tuesday for the entire town.
- Greenwaste service is suspended from the second week in January through the last week in March each year.
- Greenwaste cans have a 200 pound weight limit, and prohibited items in the can may end your service.
- Cans must be out by 5:30 am on the day of pickup or the night before, with a 200 pound weight limit.
- Fall Cleanup falls on your regular trash day. You may put out six extra bags, boxes or cans of trash, kept three feet away from your trash cans.
- No large items such as appliances or furniture, and no hazardous waste such as tires, batteries or paint, in the cleanup.
- The town collects extra trash bags or cans from your neighborhood twice a year, spring and fall.
- Put trash in containers or bags no larger than 32 gallons and weighing no more than 50 pounds, or it cannot be collected.
- Only set out bags or cans during your scheduled Extra Trash Service week. Setting items out at other times counts as illegal dumping.
- Extra trash collection does not take furniture weighing 50 pounds or more, mattresses and box springs, carpet, exercise equipment, building materials, tires, electronics, paints, Freon appliances, stoves, washers or dryers, or hot tubs.

What Dominic hauls in Gardnerville
- House & garage cleanouts: With the median home built in 2001, the pile here is usually in a garage that has filled up since move-in
- Eviction & rental property cleanout: About 48 percent of households rent, so lease ends leave rooms that need clearing between tenants
- Furniture removal: Move-outs in a town this split between renters and owners leave couches and dressers behind
- Trash removal & disposal: Douglas County code bars trash piled up on a property, so a backed-up pile has to go
- Mattress removal & disposal: Spare-room mattresses left at the end of a lease go out with the rest of the move-out load
- All 47 services

“I had a great experience with Dominic and Reno Junk Removal. Professional, reasonably priced, on time, same day service. My garage was filled with old toxic chemicals from the swimming pool and cans of paint that needed to be properly disposed of. What a relief it was to watch the mess disappear and to know it was not going to have a negative impact on the environment by just going into a landfill. Highly recommended!”
“He was responsive on text, gave me a quote from the images I sent, and able to pick up a load of stuff from our garage less than 48 hours after initial contact. Day of he was running late due to another job but texted ahead of time to let me know. Loaded stuff on his own and was off! Great service and a great price. Would definitely recommend.”
“Can’t say enough good things about Reno Junk Removal. Dom is very professional and responsive. He and Tyler came to my house the same day and picked up and hauled off a quarter of a garage worth of cardboard. The amount of time they saved me from trip after trip of taking it all to the dump was well worth the reasonable price. I highly recommend Reno Junk Removal.”
