Heavy material hauling is the job Dominic takes on for the dead weight sitting on Reno properties and around the Reno-Tahoe area. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470 to book it. It's for the stuff that's too dense or too awkward for one person with a dolly, like the grand piano in the front room or the old machine rusting out by the shed. Here the hard part is the route out the door.

Two pieces top his list so far, a grand piano at 1,200 pounds and an old concrete mixer that came in at 4,000. Maybe it's a piano, a hot tub or a pile of old metal that has to leave your property. Or you manage a rental where something heavy got left behind and nobody on site can budge it. Either way, the trouble is the same. It's more weight than the people who are there can move.

Jake, his helper, takes the other end of anything this size. If the heavy thing is concrete that's still in the ground, breaking it up first is concrete demolition, a separate job. Once it's in pieces, he hauls them off like any other heavy load. A trailer of loose broken concrete counts as heavy hauling from there. Ask about both in the same text if you need both.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: construction and remodel debris.

What usually goes in a heavy material load?

Single heavy pieces and short, dense piles, mostly. A grand piano is the classic call. A hot tub belongs here too, and one of his came out in under 10 minutes; there's more on hot tub removal if that's your job. Old metal machinery fits, like that 4,000 pound concrete mixer. So does a piece of furniture nobody in the house can lift, or broken concrete once it's out of the ground.

Two or three items can be the whole job. A photo shows him how much lifting is involved. Dense pieces can barely cover the trailer floor and still need him and Jake both doing the lifting.

Where does heavy material go once it's hauled off?

It gets sorted by what it is, and donation comes first, at Goodwill. A seized mixer or a heap of old machine parts heads to a scrap yard, where the metal is recycled. Only the true garbage ends with a landfill run, either Carson City or Stead.

Old paint is the odd one out. Half-used paint cans on the workbench can ride along too, and Greymar takes that paint for disposal. A paint can runs $10 to $20 on its own.

None of that sorting falls on you before he arrives. Leave the pile the way it sits, metal and all. For the few things that stay behind no matter the weight, check what rides on the trailer.

How does a heavy item get out of the house?

Leave the heavy piece in the room it's in. He brings it out from there, upstairs or down. He walks you through the plan before a single piece moves.

He may ask for more pictures first, like the stairs or the doorway a piano has to clear. If the piece sits in a basement or up a flight of stairs, say so when you text, because the route out sets how the lifting goes. On the day, he shows up on time.

Once the last piece is loaded, he tidies the spot it left and checks the room with you before he goes. If you're managing the job for an owner, the day and time get set with you once the price is approved.

How much does heavy material hauling cost?

The minimum is $80, and the rest depends on the load. A photo is usually enough for him to price it. When it isn't, he comes out and quotes it in person.

More people ask how he charges than ask anything else. The quote is for the whole job. The number comes from the space your load fills on the truck, and carrying it out, driving it off and disposing of it all sit inside that number. A single piano and a full trailer of scrap can land far apart, since one takes much less room. Dump fees are included and never billed separately. That price stands as long as the job is no bigger than what your photo showed, so shoot from far enough back to fit every piece. Payment can be cash, a check, Venmo, Zelle, or a credit or debit card.

How far from Reno will he come for a heavy haul?

Up to 75 miles, since he drives that far for a job. A heavy piece from South Lake Tahoe or Truckee is still inside that reach, and so is one from Fallon, Fernley, Dayton or Gardnerville. A haul out of one of those towns gets the same carry-out as one in Reno. Check each town he works in if yours isn't named here.

Sunday is closed, so plan a weekend heavy haul for Saturday.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (775) 316-7470. Dominic looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back a quote for the whole job. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. No hourly rate. Jobs start at $80. More on how pricing works.
