Dominic handles deck & fence demolition in Reno and across the Reno-Tahoe area. He tears out the old deck or the tired fence line and hauls every board away. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470. What sets this job apart from a cleanout is that nothing is sitting loose. The pile starts out nailed and screwed together, so the first half of the work is taking it apart. Think of a sagging backyard deck or a cedar fence leaning into the neighbor's yard. Once it's down, it gets loaded and leaves.

Some calls come from homeowners clearing the way before a new deck or fence goes in. The job might be one small landing off the back door or a fence line that runs the length of the yard. Either one gets taken apart before anything is loaded. If the posts sit in concrete footings and the concrete has to come out too, the concrete demolition page covers breaking up concrete as its own job.

You can book Monday through Saturday. Sunday is closed. He gets out same day, most days, with a 30 minute to one hour arrival window. He'll drive up to 75 miles for a job, so a fence in Truckee and a deck in Gardnerville both make the trip. You can check the towns he drives to from Reno on one page before you send anything over.

What ends up in the pile when a deck or fence comes down?

A deck tear-out leaves decking boards, joists, railings, the stairs and the posts underneath. A fence leaves pickets, rails, posts and the gate, or a roll of chain-link with its metal posts and ties. Then there's whatever lived on the deck. The old grill, patio chairs, a planter box or two, the lattice skirting around the bottom. All of it can go in the same load.

That's the line between this job and the bigger structure work. When a whole building comes down, roof and walls included, that's garage & shed demolition. A deck or fence is flat lumber and posts spread across a yard, so the work is mostly prying boards loose and carrying them out. If only one section of fence has to go, say which part in the text. For the rest of the backyard, the guide to what he hauls away shows what fits on the trip.

How does a deck or fence get torn out and hauled from the backyard?

It starts with a text. Dominic asks what needs to go and looks at your pictures, then gives an estimate or sets up a time to see it in person. Once you approve the price, he sets a day and time and shows up on time. He works with a helper, Jake, and before a single board gets pulled up he walks you through the work.

Nothing has to be dragged out front. The deck boards and fence panels get carried out from the backyard and loaded onto a silver Ford pickup towing a black Texas Pride dump trailer, 16 feet by 7 feet with 4 foot sides. When the last load is out, the area gets cleaned up and he does a final walkthrough with you, so you can see the yard is clear. Landlords and property managers can text the photo too.

How much does deck and fence demolition cost in Reno?

Jobs start at $80, and past that the price is set by how much room the torn-out deck or fence takes on the truck. A short run of fence is a small load. A two-level deck with stairs is a lot more lumber. For a smaller job, a photo of the deck or fence is enough for a quote. For a big deck, Dominic can come out and quote it in person.

Either way, the quote covers the whole job. Loading, hauling and disposal are inside that price, and dump fees are included, never billed on the side. His rule is that the quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. You can pay with cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle or check. The pricing guide explains how load size works across every kind of job.

Where does the old deck lumber and fencing end up?

Donation comes first for anything still worth using. A patio table or a set of chairs in decent shape can go to Goodwill instead of the dump. Before the work starts, point out what on the deck still has some life in it, and it gets set aside rather than thrown in with the lumber.

Metal comes next. Chain-link, steel fence posts, the gate hardware and a metal grill frame go to a scrap yard to be recycled. What's left is mostly weathered deck boards and rotted pickets, and that's real trash. It goes to the Carson City landfill or the Stead landfill. Rotted planter boxes and broken lattice go there too.

“Can’t say enough good things about Reno Junk Removal. Dom is very professional and responsive. He and Tyler came to my house the same day and picked up and hauled off a quarter of a garage worth of cardboard. The amount of time they saved me from trip after trip of taking it all to the dump was well worth the reasonable price. I highly recommend Reno Junk Removal.”

Questions

Questions about deck and fence demolition.

How much does it cost to have a deck or fence torn out?
Jobs start at the $80 minimum. A bigger deck or a long fence line costs more because it takes more room on the truck, and dump fees are already in the price. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470.
Do I have to take the fence down before the job?
No. Taking it down is the job. Leave it standing. It gets pulled apart and carried out from the backyard.
Can the old grill on the deck go too?
Yes, the grill can ride along with the lumber. The propane tank can't, so take it off and keep it before the job day.
How soon can a deck or fence come out?
Same day, most days, Monday through Saturday. He doesn't work Sundays, and on the day you get a 30 minute to one hour arrival window.
Will Dominic look at a big deck in person before quoting?
Yes, when the job needs it. Photos work for most fences and small decks, and for a large or multi-level deck he can come out and quote it on site.
How do I pay for deck or fence removal?
Cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle or check all work.
