Dominic handles hoarder cleanout jobs in Reno and the whole Reno-Tahoe area. The job is clearing a home that filled up over years, room by room, until you can walk the floors and open the doors again. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470. What sets this apart from a garage or basement job is how far the pile reaches. It runs through every room and stacks up against the walls. He goes over the work with you before anything is carried out, so the things worth keeping get pulled first.

You may not be the one who lived there. You might be a son or daughter, a landlord after a tenant moves out, or a manager getting a unit ready to rent again. He has done multiple hoarder cleanouts. When the home belonged to someone who has passed, the estate cleanout page covers that side of the work.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: cleanouts from one room to the whole house.

What's usually in a hoarder cleanout?

Close to everything a household brought home and never let go of. Bags of clothes and bedding, boxes of mail and papers, furniture buried under newer furniture, kitchen stuff, broken appliances, and plain trash mixed in with things that still work. That tangle is why each room gets sorted as it gets cleared.

The rooms have to be opened up before the big pieces can move, so the bags and boxes near the door go first. Once there's floor to stand on, the couch, the dressers and the old mattresses come out. If you want anything kept, like photo albums, paperwork or a box of tools, say so before loading starts and set it somewhere out of the way. He goes over the work before he begins, and that's the moment to point things out.

Where does the stuff from a hoarder house end up?

The first stop for anything usable is donation, at Goodwill. A packed house often holds furniture, clothes and housewares someone else can use, and those get set aside from the trash as each room is cleared. Metal goes to a scrap yard to be recycled, so a rusted bed frame or a pile of old pans gets recycled there. What's left that is real trash goes to the Carson City landfill or the Stead landfill.

Leftover paint turns up in a lot of these homes, stacked in closets and under sinks, and it goes to Greymar for disposal. For the rest of what can and can't ride along, the guide to what goes on the truck spells it out.

How much does a hoarder cleanout cost?

It starts at the $80 minimum, and past that the price follows how much room the load takes on the truck. A whole house rarely shows up well in a few photos, so Dominic comes out for an in-person quote when the job needs one. Either way, you get a quote for the whole job, and loading, hauling and disposal are part of it, dump fees included.

The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. On a hoarder job that rule is worth knowing, since a room nobody has opened in years can hold more than the hallway picture let on. Send shots of every room, closets and the garage too, and the quote lands closer to the real load. He takes cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle or check. The pricing guide covers more on how loads are priced.

What won't go on the truck from a hoarder house?

Items with bed bugs or pests stay behind, and in a hoarder house it pays to check before you book. Look for droppings, chewed boxes or bugs in the bedding, and mention what you see when you text. Medical or biohazard waste is refused too, and so are propane tanks and asbestos. Hazardous waste in general doesn't go on the truck.

Point out any of it up front, so it stays out of the quote and out of the load. Everything else in the house, the stacked bags and the broken recliner included, goes on the truck.

How does Dominic get a packed house cleared out?

One room at a time, from anywhere in the home. He works with a helper, Jake. Everything gets carried out by hand, up from the basement or out of the back bedroom at the end of the hall. You don't have to drag a single bag to the driveway first.

After your photos, he gives an estimate or sets up a visit to see the house. Once you approve the price, he sets a day and time and shows up on time, inside a 30 minute to one hour arrival window. He works Monday through Saturday at any hour and is closed Sunday, so the cleanout day lands on one of those six. When the last load is out, he cleans up the area and walks the house with you one final time, so you can check that every room and closet is clear. If you're a landlord or property manager, you can send the photos and approve the price yourself.

Do you do hoarder cleanouts outside Reno?

Yes. Sparks, Carson City, Fernley, Fallon, Gardnerville, Truckee and lake towns like Incline Village and South Lake Tahoe are all in his area, and he drives up to 75 miles for a job. The list of every town he works in has the rest, with Minden, Virginia City and Dayton among them.

On a house far out of town, the photos matter even more. Send every room, and if they can't show the whole job, he comes out for an in-person quote, same as in Reno. He's based in Reno, in Washoe County, so a house in Reno or Sparks sits closest to home. The trash from the job still ends up at the Carson City landfill or the Stead landfill.

“I had a great experience with Dominic and Reno Junk Removal. Professional, reasonably priced, on time, same day service. My garage was filled with old toxic chemicals from the swimming pool and cans of paint that needed to be properly disposed of. What a relief it was to watch the mess disappear and to know it was not going to have a negative impact on the environment by just going into a landfill. Highly recommended!”

“He was responsive on text, gave me a quote from the images I sent, and able to pick up a load of stuff from our garage less than 48 hours after initial contact. Day of he was running late due to another job but texted ahead of time to let me know. Loaded stuff on his own and was off! Great service and a great price. Would definitely recommend.”

“Can’t say enough good things about Reno Junk Removal. Dom is very professional and responsive. He and Tyler came to my house the same day and picked up and hauled off a quarter of a garage worth of cardboard. The amount of time they saved me from trip after trip of taking it all to the dump was well worth the reasonable price. I highly recommend Reno Junk Removal.”

Questions

Questions about hoarder cleanout.

What is the minimum for a hoarder cleanout?
$80 is the minimum. A bigger cleanout is priced by how much room the load takes on the truck, and dump fees are part of the price, never a separate bill.
Can he come look at the house before giving a price?
Yes. When photos can't show the whole job, Dominic comes out for an in-person quote. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470 to start, and he'll say if a visit makes sense.
Can I keep some things from the house?
Yes. Set aside the photo albums, paperwork or anything else that stays. He explains the work before starting, so that's when you point out the keep pile and it gets left alone.
Does he take stuff from upstairs and the basement?
Yes. He carries things out from anywhere in the home, so the bags in the upstairs bedroom and the boxes in the basement come out with the rest.
Can he take the old paint stacked in the closets?
Yes. Leftover paint goes to Greymar for disposal, so the cans under the sinks and on the closet shelves can leave with the rest of the house.
