Dominic does furniture removal in Reno and across the Reno-Tahoe area, from one worn recliner to a house full of it. It's for the big pieces you can't fit in your car or don't want to lift again, like the sectional in the den or the oak dresser upstairs. You book it by text. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470. What sets this job apart from a general junk pickup is the carrying. Furniture is heavy and awkward, so most of the work happens inside, getting each piece out of its room and through the front door.

Most calls are homeowners replacing a living room set or families clearing out a parent's house. Landlords call too, when the last tenant left a unit full. The price comes down to how much room the load takes on the truck. When the furniture is part of clearing a whole house, that's an estate cleanout.

What goes on the truck

  • Couches and sectionals
  • Recliners and armchairs
  • Dressers and bed frames
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Desks and office chairs
  • Bookshelves and entertainment centers
  • Metal patio furniture
  • Pianos

What kind of furniture can you haul away?

If it's furniture and it has to leave the house, it can go. That covers couches and sectionals, recliners, dressers, bed frames, dining sets, desks, bookshelves and the deep entertainment centers built for old tube TVs. The lamps and boxes from the same room can ride along on the load in the silver Ford pickup towing a black Texas Pride dump trailer, 16 feet by 7 feet with 4 foot sides.

Weight is what makes furniture its own kind of job. A sleeper sofa hides a steel frame under the cushions. A solid wood hutch or a china cabinet can take two people and a plan to get around a corner. Heavy pieces are normal work for him. That's the part you're paying to skip.

Does old furniture get donated or thrown away?

Donation comes first. A couch with no rips, a sturdy dresser or a table that still stands level gets set aside for Goodwill before anything else is decided. Tell him which pieces you hope will get a second home when you text.

Metal goes a different way. Steel bed frames, metal desks and metal patio chairs go to a scrap yard to be recycled. Whatever is truly worn out, like a recliner with a broken mechanism or particleboard that came apart in the last move, goes to the Carson City landfill or the Stead landfill. If most of what you have is good enough to give away, the donated goods pickup page is the closer fit.

Do I have to get the couch down the stairs first?

No. Each piece gets carried out of the room it's in, and an upstairs bedroom or the far corner of the basement is no different. Nothing has to be dragged to the curb ahead of time. If the way out has a tight turn or a narrow staircase, get it into one of the photos so he can plan the carry.

It starts with your text, sent any time, day or night. He asks what needs to go, looks at the pictures and gives an estimate, or sets up an in-person quote when a photo can't show the whole job. Once you approve the price, he sets a day and time. A late evening after work is fine, Monday through Saturday. He shows up on time, with a 30 minute to one hour arrival window. Before anything moves, he explains how the work will go. When the last piece is out, he cleans up the spot it left and does a final walkthrough with you.

How much does it cost to have a couch hauled away?

A couch usually runs $125 to $225, and no job comes in under the $80 minimum. The price is a quote for the whole job, given from your photo. It's set by how much room the load takes on the truck, so one armchair lands near the bottom and a full bedroom set takes more space and costs more.

Loading, hauling and disposal are all inside that quote. Dump fees are included, never billed separately. The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed, so get every piece into the picture, the nightstands in the corner included. You can pay with cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle or check. The pricing guide for Reno junk removal explains how loads are sized.

Will you take a couch that has bed bugs?

No. Any piece with bed bugs or other pests stays where it is. The same trailer carries the next customer's couch, and nobody wants what came out of yours riding along with it. If you're not sure, mention it when you text.

A few other things get turned down on every job, furniture or not. A propane tank sitting next to the patio set stays behind. So does anything containing asbestos, along with medical or biohazard waste. Before the day, check the drawers and under the cushions so nothing you meant to keep rides away inside a dresser.

How far from Reno will you drive for a furniture pickup?

Up to 75 miles, which covers Sparks and Carson City, the towns up around Lake Tahoe like Incline Village, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, and east out to Fernley and Fallon. Gardnerville, Dayton, Minden and Virginia City are in range too. You can see the full list of towns he drives to before you text.

Closer in, Verdi, Stead and Washoe Valley sit right by Reno. A longer drive doesn't change how the price is set. A dresser in a Tahoe cabin is quoted the same way as one in Reno, by the room it takes on the truck, and the $80 minimum is the floor in every town.

Questions

Questions about furniture removal.

How much does furniture removal cost?
Every job starts at the $80 minimum, and a couch usually runs $125 to $225. Loading, hauling and disposal are covered in the quote, with dump fees included.
Do I need to move the furniture outside first?
No. Leave it right where it is, even in an upstairs bedroom.
Can you pick up furniture the same day?
Most days, yes. Jobs run Monday through Saturday, with a 30 minute to one hour arrival window. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470.
Will my old couch be donated?
If it's in good shape, it goes to Goodwill first. Worn-out pieces go to the Carson City or Stead landfill, and metal goes to a scrap yard to be recycled.
Can you haul a piano?
Yes. A 1,200 pound grand piano is among the heaviest hauls so far, so an upright or a big armoire is the same kind of work. Send a photo that shows the piece and the way out.
Can a mattress go with the bed frame?
Yes. A mattress can ride on the same load as the frame and the dresser. On its own, a mattress usually runs $80 to $125.
