Dominic does garage & shed demolition in Reno and the Reno-Tahoe area. The old building comes down and he hauls off what is left. Think of the shed with the sagging roof, or the detached garage that leans a little more each year. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470. The job is done when the building is down and gone from your lot.

Landlords and property managers call when a rental has a falling-down shed out back. Maybe you want the space back for parking or a garden instead. Sometimes the garage is still packed. Emptying it without touching the walls is a house and garage cleanout, and you can ask about both in the same text.

From the full list of what goes on the truck: outdoor structures and concrete.

What is in the pile after a garage or shed comes down?

Mostly the building itself. A wood shed or garage comes apart into wall framing, roof sheathing, shingles, siding, trim and the door, much of it with nails still in. A metal shed leaves bent panels, a thin frame and a bucket's worth of screws.

The other half of the pile is whatever lived inside. That might be an old workbench, a wall of shelving, a mower that quit years ago or paint cans on a high shelf. Part of the load is the building and part is what was stored in it, and both go on the same job. Show both in your photos, inside and out, so nothing in the loft or behind the door turns up as a surprise on the day. Heavy is fine too. One of the heaviest hauls so far was an old 4,000 pound concrete mixer, so a solid steel workbench is nothing new for him.

Where does the lumber and metal from a torn-down shed go?

The metal goes to a scrap yard to be recycled, and the broken framing and shingles go to the Carson City landfill or the Stead landfill. A teardown has plenty of metal: steel shed panels, roof flashing, old hinges, a rusted wheelbarrow. Anything still usable that was stored inside, like a bike or a set of shelves in good shape, goes to Goodwill. Leftover paint from the garage shelves goes to Greymar for disposal, so it stays out of the landfill load. If a piece in there should go to a friend or family member instead, set it aside before the day so it does not end up in the sort.

How does a garage or shed teardown get done from start to finish?

It starts with a text. You send photos of the building and what is inside, and Dominic asks what needs to come down. A bigger garage may need him to come out for an in-person quote first.

Once you approve the price, he sets a day and time and shows up on it, with a 30 minute to one hour arrival window. He works with a helper, Jake. Before anything comes apart, he walks you through the plan. Then the building comes down and goes onto the trailer load by load, and nothing has to be dragged to the curb. When the last load is out, the area gets cleaned up and there is a final walkthrough.

What won't he haul off when a garage or shed comes down?

Asbestos stays behind. If you know or suspect it is in the siding, roofing or flooring, say so before the day. He does not take propane tanks either, and garages and sheds are where they tend to collect, from the grill tank to the spare for the patio heater. Boxes and junk inside the shed that mice or other pests have moved into stay behind, and so does anything with bed bugs. Medical or biohazard waste is refused as well. Leftover paint can go, and it goes to Greymar. Mention any of these when you send the photos, so the plan is right before the first board comes off. The guide to what goes on the truck covers the rest.

How much does it cost to tear down and haul away a shed?

The minimum is $80, and past that the price is set by how much room the teardown takes on the truck. The truck is a silver Ford pickup towing a black Texas Pride dump trailer, 16 feet by 7 feet with 4 foot sides, so a small garden shed fills far less of it than a two-car garage. You get a quote for the whole job from your photos. Loading, hauling and disposal are inside that quote, and dump fees are never billed separately.

The quote holds unless the job turns out bigger than the photo showed. On a teardown that usually means the loft full of boxes nobody mentioned. Pay with cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, Zelle or check. The pricing guide for Reno junk removal goes deeper on how loads are priced.

Does Dominic take down sheds outside Reno?

Yes. He drives up to 75 miles for a job, so a teardown in Truckee, Incline Village, South Lake Tahoe, Gardnerville or Fallon is as doable as one in Sparks. Smaller spots count too, like Minden, Virginia City and Hidden Valley. The list of towns on his route has a page for most of them.

A small shed can come down the same day, most days, while a bigger teardown may need the in-person quote first. When the building is a long way out of town, put the town in your text with the photos so the day can be planned around the drive.

“I had a great experience with Dominic and Reno Junk Removal. Professional, reasonably priced, on time, same day service. My garage was filled with old toxic chemicals from the swimming pool and cans of paint that needed to be properly disposed of. What a relief it was to watch the mess disappear and to know it was not going to have a negative impact on the environment by just going into a landfill. Highly recommended!”

“He was responsive on text, gave me a quote from the images I sent, and able to pick up a load of stuff from our garage less than 48 hours after initial contact. Day of he was running late due to another job but texted ahead of time to let me know. Loaded stuff on his own and was off! Great service and a great price. Would definitely recommend.”

“Can’t say enough good things about Reno Junk Removal. Dom is very professional and responsive. He and Tyler came to my house the same day and picked up and hauled off a quarter of a garage worth of cardboard. The amount of time they saved me from trip after trip of taking it all to the dump was well worth the reasonable price. I highly recommend Reno Junk Removal.”

Questions

Questions about garage and shed demolition.

How much does garage & shed demolition cost in Reno?
The minimum is $80, and the rest depends on how much room the building and its contents take on the truck. Text a photo to (775) 316-7470.
Do I have to empty the garage before it comes down?
No. Most of what is stored inside can go out with the building on the same job, apart from the things on the won't-take list.
Will he come look at a big garage before quoting?
Yes. When photos are not enough, Dominic comes out for an in-person quote, then sets a day and time once you approve the price.
Does any of the old shed get recycled?
Yes, the metal does. It goes to a scrap yard to be recycled.
What if there is a propane tank or old paint in the shed?
The propane tank stays, since he does not take them. Leftover paint can go, and it ends up at Greymar for disposal.
Can a shed come down on a Sunday?
No. Sunday is closed. Any day from Monday to Saturday works, at any hour.
